In 2019 people from 190 countries and almost 9,000 cities worldwide visited Justice Denied’s website (justicedenied.org). That compares with 2018 when people from 186 countries and about 9,000 cities visited Justice Denied’s website.

The following tables show where the most visitors to JD’s website came from in three year intervals from 2007 to 2019, and how they accessed the website. The increase since 2007 in visitors from cities outside the U.S., and the use of mobile devices is striking. Reflecting the worldwide interest in wrongful convictions, Justice Denied reports on cases and issues from countries around the world.

Table listing the cities from which the most people visited JD’s website from 2007 to 2019The most obvious change is that in 2019 five of the ten leading cities were from outside the U.S., while in 2007 only one was. Three of those cities are in Australia.

Table listing the cities from which the most people visited JD’s website from 2007 to 2019The most visits on a yearly basis are from the four most most populous English speaking countries, which is to be expected since Justice Denied is an English language website. The other six are an interesting mix of countries, with Germany the only non-English speaking country in each list since 2007.

Table listing the countries from which the most people in total visited JD’s website from 2007 to 2019The majority of countries from which the most visitors to Justice Denied’s website came from 2007 to 2019 were either predominately English speaking or English is an official legal language. JD had visitors from 231 different countries and over 25,000 cities and towns. The United Nations recognizes 241 countries and territories, so JD was visited by people from all but a handful of the world’s least populated countries and territories.

Table listing the device from which people visited JD’s website from 2007 to 2019In 2007 100% of visitors accessed Justice Denied’s website from a desktop or laptop computer, while by 2019 more than 54% of all visitors used a mobile phone or hand-held tablet. JD created its mobile device friendly website so smart phone and tablet users are automatically routed to it, while computer users see the regular website.

This table reflects that Google’s dominance extends beyond having the most widely used search engine: their Chrome browser is now firmly established as the most widely used web browser. The widespread use of Apple products is reflected in Safari never being less than the third most popular web browser. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, now in fifth place, was the most popular web browser for years before Chrome was even developed. The open-source Firefox has never been less than the fourth most popular web browser.

(Note. While Justice Denied is able to obtain basic collective information concerning visitors to its website, JD does not use tracking cookies and no individual information about visitors is available or sought by JD.)
